A small, almost fond smile tugs at her lips. "It certainly has it's quirks."

If she knew of Freya's fate she would relate to the freedom she might feel. Chicago has it's quirks, but it's given Rebekah a freedom she's never had. After the human version of Klaus disappeared no other forms appeared. And while she misses her brothers she can just live her life. It's what she's always wanted.

"He will, once he calms down. This usually happens when he loses his temper. Or when the rifts want to mess with him -- they like doing that."

Not that she can talk. She is the girl who turned into a kitten in the middle of a ball because of a kitten.

[deathlessness]

"Turning someone into a deer as an anger management tactic." She can't help but smirk. "Very clever. I am both curious and dreading finding out what my own change is." It's errs more on the side of curiosity than anything else. After all, it can't be any worse than what has already been done to her in her very long life.

She glances back to Stefan again, before brushing another gentle hand over the top of his head. "Hopefully he will turn back soon. I'm sure he's not a very useful boyfriend like this."

[easily]

"It's not always fun to discover -- I turn into a tiny white cat."

Which while adorable is rather ineffectual. Chicago has weird anger management styles.

"He always turns back eventually. All of the shapeshifters do. I spent an extended time as a cat once though."

When Elijah and Klaus disappeared from Chicago.

[deathlessness]

She nods slowly, before returning her focus to the deer as she starts to get to her feet. "Well, I hope that it's soon, then. I'm sure he doesn't make a very good boyfriend like this."

He's definitely not very good for boyfriend-ly things. Not that Freya has had a lover in a very long time, but she knows enough of love to know that one of them being a deer gets in the way more than it allows their relationship to continue.

[easily]

"Oh, he's quite cuddly like this when he wants to be. But he's more handsome when he's just Stefan."

She has no doubt that eventually he'll be boyfriend shaped again. It always happens sooner or later.

[deathlessness]

"I'm sure he is." She smiles softly, before turning and holding up a hand to introduce herself. "My name is Freya."

[easily]

"Rebekah." There's a pause and then. "I had a sister named Freya, though I never got to meet her." Because as far as this Rebekah knows, Freya died before she was born.

[deathlessness]

There is a moment where she weighs the pros and cons of revealing herself. In some ways she already did, back in New Orleans, but they had the balance of adversity on their side. Would Rebekah believe, even in a world as strange as this, that her sister had been returned to her? Would she even want her to be?

"Would you have liked a sister, if you had?"

[easily]

"I think so. I love my brothers but it would be lonely in the boys club sometimes."

And she likes to think if she had had an older sister that sister would have looked out for her.

[deathlessness]

She would have, if she had been given the chance to. But that sentence gives her hope for a moment, and she shifts to rest back on her heels a little more. "And if I were to say that I was that sister? Would you want that?"

[easily]

Rebekah stares for a long moment, unsure of what to say. "But my sister died before I was even born."

Or that's what she was told, anyway.

[deathlessness]

She can't help but grit her teeth at that, before shaking her head. "That is what you were told, but I assume that was the lie my mother chose to tell. I'm sure it wouldn't have gone over well with my father if she said that she sold me into slavery."

[easily]

Rebekah's eyes widen at that. This is a Rebekah who has never had to deal with the true treachery of Esther.

"She wouldn't do that. She loved us, she loved her children."

[deathlessness]

Freya's lips purse for a moment, before she shakes her head. "Yes. She loved us so much that she gave one of us away and turned the rest into monsters." It's a hard truth, to see their parents for who they really are.

Then again, Freya never saw Mikael turn against his children either.

[easily]

"And her husband, who spent the next thousand years hunting his own children."

While she understands now why he had went after Klaus it still stings and makes Rebekah bitter all the same. If anyone was a monster, it was their father.

[deathlessness]

Freya flinches at that interpretation of her father, after using him as her anchor and her hope for so long. She doesn't understand why the Mikael she knew would do the things that he did, but that's something she's never meant to understand. Not until she talks to Mikael herself.

"I can't speak to that. I haven't seen my father in a thousand years." But she had been the apple of her father's eye while her mother couldn't even fight for her.

[easily]

"You're not missing much." Rebekah has never seen the bad parts of Esther, her treachery is mostly unknown to her. But she knows what Mikael is capable of. Once she even called upon him herself, she was so desperate to be free of Klaus and his control.

[deathlessness]

There's part of her that flinches at that, wanting to roar back in her father's defense, but she doesn't know enough of the story yet. She reveres Mikael the way Rebekah reveres Esther - they've held onto the memory so tightly that they can only remember them when they were at their best, and for the moment are refusing to accept the worst.

"I suppose we will have to agree to disagree." She pauses, before getting to her feet and face her. "They are both dead and we are not, and I do not wish to sour our relationship before we can even begin."

[easily]

Rebekah smiles at the concession, nodding in agreement. "I think that is a wise choice. I've always wanted a sister, I would be loathe to lose one so quickly."

Not if she doesn't have to.

[deathlessness]

"As did I." Not that she didn't love Finn and Elijah with all her heart when she was young, but she always desperately wished for a sister, to feel that bond she's seen between the other girls in the village, and that desperation hadn't changed as she moved through the years. A sister would have been welcome company in the loneliness of traveling with Dahlia.

She smiles before reaching forward for Rebekah's hands with a soft squeeze. "You must tell me everything of our brothers. There is so much I have missed."

[easily]

"There is." Not all of it good, a lot of it bad actually. She's not sure if she should tell Freya about what a monster Niklaus became over the years -- she seems so excited to hear about her family. Perhaps she'll focus more on Elijah.

"What do you want to know?" In a thousand years of history it can be hard to know where to start.

[deathlessness]

It can be, but she's willing to take it brother by brother. And the ones she cares about more are the older ones anyway. "Let's ... start with Finn? Is he well?" Finn, unfortunately for Freya, was her favorite brother, and she would be most concerned with his well-being.

[easily]

Rebekah frowns, as that is one of the nastier answers. "Incapacitated, last I knew. Niklaus has these daggers he can use on the rest of us. Finn has been in his coffin for a long time."

Something she sometimes felt guilty about but didn't dare act on in case Klaus turned the dagger on her.

[deathlessness]

Her brow furrows for a moment. She hadn't spent enough time around her family in the early 1910s to really get a sense of things. She knew that Kol was messing around with alchemy, but she never had the chance to learn the specifics of what for before she was trapped as well, by her brother's conniving hand.

"Why would he do that to his own family?"

[easily]

"Because Niklaus has become consistently more paranoid and hateful over time. He is the most mosterous of all of us." The worst of it Rebekah had not even been aware of until recently.
