[Cora's got her claws - that's all she really needs. She gets out of the car, taking in the smell of nature, wildlife and ... yeah, a lot of dust. She studies the paths for a moment, before pointing to the one that looks the most well traveled.]

[ Once she has her staff in hand, she comes up to Cora's side, nodding at her choice. While the overgrown paths might reveal hidden treasures, there also might be washed out paths or rock slides. It's better to be safe than sorry (knowledge 21). ]

Yeah definitely. It looks like we can walk side by side, at least to start.

[ And off she goes! ]

[And Cora's right behind her, glancing around to see if there's anything interesting as they go, but they aren't in the ruins proper yet. Most of what's here is trees and shrubbery.

Kind of boring, unless you're into that sort of thing.]

[dizzying]

[ Lucky Granuaile, then, because she loves nature. She walks around with eyes that are straining to take it all in. To her, nature is sacred. It's beautiful, and pure, and alive. ]

It's so peaceful here. I hope no one minds that we're walking through.

[ To her, the "no one" she's referring to is the earth itself, the local elemental, the trees, the grasses and moss, everything. ]

[Cora is not that in tune with the rest of the world. She will, however, wrinkle her nose at the mention of it being so peaceful.]

Don't jinx it.

[Because someone probably will mind if they keep going.]

[dizzying]

Oops.

[ She lifts her index finger to her lips, a mischievous look in her eyes. If trouble's coming, it's less because she's jinxed them and more because they're cursed in general. It seems the more peaceful you want to be, the more people come along to jack it all up. At least in Granuaile's case. She's not sure how peaceful a person Cora is. ]

I am curious why this temple doesn't have a big parking lot and gift shop near it. Maybe it's a protected site.

[Cora nods a bit. Personally, she tends to like the parks without all the tourist-y stuff surrounding it, because it's usually a lot quieter. She personally thinks that's a good thing, but it does leave her to wonder what makes this place different.]

Or maybe they just haven't gotten around to it yet.

[dizzying]

Yeah, and knock on wood they don't ever.

[ She moves over to a tree just off the path and lightly knocks on the trunk. She manages to depress a knot in the wood that's actually a hidden button and suddenly a few feet in front of them, the path lifts up, a trapdoor controlled by some ancient pulley system lifting up to reveal stone steps leading down a dark hole. ]

Um. The fuck?

[ So eloquent, this one. ]

[Cora tips her head to the side, eyes peering down into the darkness. From what she could tell, it's safe so far (spot 23), but she won't know for sure until they go inside.]

Wanna check it out?

[dizzying]

I'd say we have to, or Indiana Jones would be pissed at us.

[ Flashing Cora a grin, she heads over to the entrance, looking down in. Then she takes out her keys to use the flashlight on her keychain, shining the beam of light down in. ]

Well, here goes.

[ She sets her foot down on the first step, testing if it'll hold her weight. When it seems secure, she starts down in (balance 20) and soon she's made it to the bottom with ease, as if she's just headed down into the cellar to grab a jar of preserves. ]

Feels pretty sturdy to me.

[Cora follows her down with the same amount of ease, not really thinking about it much beyond checking to make sure she doesn't trip on any cracks or broken pieces (balance 18). She glances around as they go, and starts to make out something on the walls, but she can't really see what (spot 10).]

There's something over here.

[dizzying]

Yeah? Let's get some light on it.

[ She turns the beam over towards the wall and frowns (investigate 10). ]

I can't make it out. It looks too faint, or else my flashlight just sucks.

[ She taps it against her palm a few times but the beam doesn't get any brighter. ]

Can you tell what it is?

[impetere]

[Cora's is only slightly better (investigate 15), but from what she can see she can start to make out a pattern.]

Almost seems like a story. Maybe with hieroglyphics?

[dizzying]

Cool!

[ She steps closer and holds out a finger, tracing the air in front of each image to try and get a sense of what it is (decipher script 9). ]

This makes about as much sense to me as theoretical physics. And by that I mean, not a freaking lot. Is this a dude with a tool, or a giant dick?

[ She tilts her head sideways, as if that will help her see if it's a plow or a penis. ]

whoops, sorry.

[Cora frowns a bit at that, before repeating the gesture.]

I think ... it's a tool.

[Her head tips a little more.]

It seems a little awkwardly shaped to be a dick.

it's cool. granuaile wonders who that mysterious hottie was.

[dizzying]

Wait until you get to college and their frat parties. You'll see some then.

[ Granuaile is just honest. It's not like she's corrupting the youth of today or anything. ]

Okay, so it's a tool. What is it and what's he doing with it?

[ She moves down to the next picture in the row, hoping that will help. ]

The round thing could be a wheel. And it has a line through it. A cart? Or something else. Does the tool go with the wheel?

[Cora ... so didn't need to know that. But it can't be worse than anything she's seen or heard as a werewolf, so moving on.

Anyway, Cora moves along the line with her, but suddenly, magically, something clicks and she starts to get what she's seeing here (decipher script nat 20).]

It's a warning.

[She takes a step forward to brush off some of the dust to reveal an ugly, beastly looking thing.]

It's a story, but it's also a warning.

Now we're getting somewhere. A warning about not pissing that guy off, I take it? So wait, that thing the dude's holding -- maybe it's a weapon?

[ She frowns, looking between the man, the circle with the line through it, and the beast. ]

There might be more to the story if we go in further.

[Cora nods a bit, glancing from the point in the story where they're at, down the hallway to the rest of the hieroglyphics.]

I think it goes this way.

[She points further into the underground cavern, away from the light (navigate 20 total).]

[dizzying]

Let's read on. Or... look at pictures. Whatever.

[ She lights the way with her little flashlight. ]

[Cora continues to make her way down further, deciphering as she goes, until it all comes to a stop on what looks like a round knob carved out of the rock. She studies it for a moment, before letting her hand hover over it to see how it fits.]

It almost seems like a door knob.

[dizzying]

I wouldn't be surprised. This place is totes intricate with its design. Just wait a sec, though.

[ She runs her beam of light around the knob thing, door area, and the immediate area, to check for any traps (spot 15). ]

I don't see any ancient trip wires or holes for poison darts to shoot out at us. I say turn it and see what happens. If something dangerous comes at us, I think we can run out of here in time.

[ She has her staff, which is storing up a extra dose of the earth's energy in it for her since she's currently wearing shoes and can't draw directly from the earth itself. If she needs an extra burst of speed or strength, she'll have it. ]

[impetere]

[Cora takes a deep breath before nodding in agreement. She places her hand down on the knob, feeling it sink under her fingers and turn slightly into the lock, before a panel of the stone wall to the left start to slide open.]

... Okay then.

[dizzying]

Whoa. Indiana Jones wishes he got shit as cool as this!

[ Though Granuaile is still a bit cautious, she moves towards the opening panel to see if it's big enough to get through. A secret tunnel, perhaps? She gives it a check with her flashlight as it continues opening enough to walk through. ]

[Cora isn't entirely sure about this, but nothing seems particularly off (sense motive 10). She falls in step behind Granuaile, keeping behind the flashlight and trying to make out anything in the darkness that the light isn't touching yet.]
