Cool!

[ She steps closer and holds out a finger, tracing the air in front of each image to try and get a sense of what it is (decipher script 9). ]

This makes about as much sense to me as theoretical physics. And by that I mean, not a freaking lot. Is this a dude with a tool, or a giant dick?

[ She tilts her head sideways, as if that will help her see if it's a plow or a penis. ]

whoops, sorry.

[Cora frowns a bit at that, before repeating the gesture.]

I think ... it's a tool.

[Her head tips a little more.]

It seems a little awkwardly shaped to be a dick.

it's cool. granuaile wonders who that mysterious hottie was.

[dizzying]

Wait until you get to college and their frat parties. You'll see some then.

[ Granuaile is just honest. It's not like she's corrupting the youth of today or anything. ]

Okay, so it's a tool. What is it and what's he doing with it?

[ She moves down to the next picture in the row, hoping that will help. ]

The round thing could be a wheel. And it has a line through it. A cart? Or something else. Does the tool go with the wheel?

[Cora ... so didn't need to know that. But it can't be worse than anything she's seen or heard as a werewolf, so moving on.

Anyway, Cora moves along the line with her, but suddenly, magically, something clicks and she starts to get what she's seeing here (decipher script nat 20).]

It's a warning.

[She takes a step forward to brush off some of the dust to reveal an ugly, beastly looking thing.]

It's a story, but it's also a warning.

[dizzying]

Now we're getting somewhere. A warning about not pissing that guy off, I take it? So wait, that thing the dude's holding -- maybe it's a weapon?

[ She frowns, looking between the man, the circle with the line through it, and the beast. ]

There might be more to the story if we go in further.

[impetere]

[Cora nods a bit, glancing from the point in the story where they're at, down the hallway to the rest of the hieroglyphics.]

I think it goes this way.

[She points further into the underground cavern, away from the light (navigate 20 total).]

[dizzying]

Let's read on. Or... look at pictures. Whatever.

[ She lights the way with her little flashlight. ]

[impetere]

[Cora continues to make her way down further, deciphering as she goes, until it all comes to a stop on what looks like a round knob carved out of the rock. She studies it for a moment, before letting her hand hover over it to see how it fits.]

It almost seems like a door knob.

[dizzying]

I wouldn't be surprised. This place is totes intricate with its design. Just wait a sec, though.

[ She runs her beam of light around the knob thing, door area, and the immediate area, to check for any traps (spot 15). ]

I don't see any ancient trip wires or holes for poison darts to shoot out at us. I say turn it and see what happens. If something dangerous comes at us, I think we can run out of here in time.

[ She has her staff, which is storing up a extra dose of the earth's energy in it for her since she's currently wearing shoes and can't draw directly from the earth itself. If she needs an extra burst of speed or strength, she'll have it. ]

[impetere]

[Cora takes a deep breath before nodding in agreement. She places her hand down on the knob, feeling it sink under her fingers and turn slightly into the lock, before a panel of the stone wall to the left start to slide open.]

... Okay then.

[dizzying]

Whoa. Indiana Jones wishes he got shit as cool as this!

[ Though Granuaile is still a bit cautious, she moves towards the opening panel to see if it's big enough to get through. A secret tunnel, perhaps? She gives it a check with her flashlight as it continues opening enough to walk through. ]

want to try combat?

[impetere]

[Cora isn't entirely sure about this, but nothing seems particularly off (sense motive 10). She falls in step behind Granuaile, keeping behind the flashlight and trying to make out anything in the darkness that the light isn't touching yet.]

[dizzying]

[ It just seems like an ordinary tunnel. A dirt floor, stone walls, the whole deal. Her flashlight beam hits the walls, searching for anymore pictographs, but this area seems pretty devoid of anything that would give them a clue of what's ahead. So Granuaile just keeps alert and moves until the light disappears. ]

The wall stops here. I think it opens up into a bigger room.

[Cora moves to take the position ahead of them, switching to her wolf eyes so that she can see what's happening inside. It does open into a larger room, and at the end of it is sitting a large stone statue, that's almost like a goblin with wings.

She pauses, taking a few steps forward before gesturing for Granuaile to follow.]

There's something up ahead.

[dizzying]

Yeah? Can you see what it is?

[ Because her puny flashlight can't reach that far. She keeps the light fixed on the ground in front of Cora so they can watch where they are walking. ]

[impetere]

Yeah. I think it looks like a ...

[Before she can say anything further, the statue moves suddenly, striking out against the girl (attack 8). He swipes wide and misses, and Cora shifts quickly, ready to go on the offensive with a snarl.]

[dizzying]

Whoa!

[ Granuaile shifts the opposite way Cora does, so they're on either side of the statue and it has to face them on two fronts. The flashlight on her keys goes in her back pocket since the room just filled with light and she's left blinking. She lifts her staff and holds it in a defensive position, waiting to see what it does next. ]

You okay, Cora?

[impetere]

[Yep, she's fine. It missed her by a mile. But she's not pleased at being clawed at either. She shifts quickly, claws and fangs sliding out as though they were always there and prepares to go on the defense.]

I'm good.

[And with that she's going to charge in to try and get an attack herself (attack 13), but unfortunately missing, but just barely. The gargoyle isn't pleased either, and he's going to swipe at her again, this time his claws catch her shoulder (attack 23, damage 3).]

[dizzying]

[ Granuaile doesn't wait for a perfect moment like she should. Seeing her friend hurt makes her see red and she swings out with her staff (attack 5) missing wildly and leaving herself open. ]

[impetere]

[It does, which distracts the gargoyle and gives Cora an opportunity. She charges in, slashing at the stone creature and catching it between the ribs (attack 17, damage 7).

The gargoyle roars at the slice, gritting it's teeth and glaring at them both. He decides that instead of taking a slash at the tiny one again, he's going to go for the one with the staff instead and swiping at Granuaile (attack 20 total, damage 3).]

[dizzying]

Ow! Crap!

[ Granuaile executes a spin move with her staff, twirling it behind her back and over her head to try and crack it down on the gargoyle's head (attack 16, damage 4). ]

[impetere]

[As the attack hits, Cora charges in from the side again, swiping her claws out to try and catch the creature, just missing as it tries to dodge out of the way (attack 15).

The gargoyle does not like being clocked on the head however and strikes out blindly in Cora's direction (attack 17, damage 3).]

[dizzying]

[ Granuaile isn't going to let them get their asses whooped by something out of the Hunchback of Notre Dame, Disney edition. She repeats the action again with her staff as it focuses on Cora for the moment (attack 17, damage 6). ]

[impetere]

[Double teaming works well for them. While Granuaile slams her staff into the gargoyle, Cora comes at it from the side as well (attack 20 total, damage 9).

The gargoyle roars in pain, so not pleased with this turn of events. He continues to swipe out at both of them, missing wildly as he does (attack 11).]

[dizzying]

[ She was contemplating adding her Shillelagh spell to her staff to help them out, but since she can only cast it once a day, Granuaile doesn't want to waste it if there's more to come. Besides, this guy looks like a chump now. She easily evades its swipe and twirls around again, thought she's starting to run out of steam. She swings at the statue again, misjudging the distance and missing (attack 10). ]
