Elba National Park, Egypt. 2013

The duel to the death had gone in both men's favor that day, but for Baal it left him beaten and slashed as he left the ship in the national park on the Egyptian border. All he owned was in his pockets, and it soon became quite obvious to him that he had staged his defection at a rather bad time and location.

He knew there was a road that ran through the park, but he didn't know how far he was from it. Not to mention the slash along his arm that was hidden under his jacket which he could feel the blood dripping from his fingers to the ground. If he didn't find a way to a town soon, he was going to end up dead from his wounds.

At least I will die in my homeland.

When he couldn't walk any further, he found a tree by the river and sat down to let his fingers dip into the water before bringing it to his lips. Maybe if he just closed his eyes and rested here for a moment...

Rosario doesn't always wind up hoofing it on foot through national parks, but when she does, she usually finds ways to take her time. Nature is where she feels closest to her deity, and a good hike is a great way to take a calming break between stops. Today, she's hiking her way through Elba National Park, but it's clear when she stumbles on where Baal's decided to take a nap, that this isn't going to be one of her usual calm hikes.

Thankfully, she almost always has healing spells prepared.

"... Shit," she gasps as she darts her way over, dropping down to her knees next to him and assessing his injuries. Once she knows what's happening she closes her eyes, laying hands on him for a moment and healing as much as she can. The only thing on her mind is a silent prayer for her deity to intercede on his behalf and hopefully it will be enough.

He stirred when he felt the hands touching him, and then there was a jolt through his system and he gasped, feeling the energy of the spell working it's way through him. His eyes opened and he looked at the woman kneeling next to him, confused as he caught his breath.

"What are you doing?" he asked in Arabic.

Rosario does not speak Arabic. She's collected a few languages over her travels, and she does know just enough of any language to ask "Do you speak English?" But she's found that some things translate through any dialect, and she reaches under her shirt to fish out her holy symbol from under her shirt and hold it up so he can see.

"I'm a cleric of Eldath." She gives him a small I'm harmless I promise smile. "I saw you were hurt and I was just trying to help."

"I do speak English, yes," he said, his accent thick. "Just not often."

His eyes squinted at the holy symbol, and then shook his head. "I know not what Eldath is. But thank you."

"Not many people know her. She tends to lay low." She gives him a small smile in return before rocking back on her heels and holding her hands out to him. "Do you think you're strong enough to stand? I can do another healing spell if you need more."

She can always re-prepare spells later. This man clearly needs her help now.

"It will depend." He groaned and shifted, going to pull his jacket down to look at his arm. The blood-soaked sleeve was where his ex-captain had slashed his off-arm when he had raised it as a block. Better to lose a limb than his neck.

Rosario's eyes follow his to his arm, and she doesn't hesitate, reaching forward to place a hand against it gently. It doesn't take long for the soft glow to extend from her hands again as the skin begins to stitch itself up and the pain begins to fade.

The blood, she can't do anything about. But at least the wound is gone.

He watched her work her magic, his eyes widening in amazement as he saw his skin knitting itself close.

"Your God has given you great powers," he whispered as to not disturb her.

She smiles softly at that, before shaking her head. "She is happy to let me help. Healing is one of her tenants." She pulls back her hands and looks him over carefully. "Anything else I should be worried about?"

"Just that I may be fall in love with you."

[nonconfrontational]

Rosario just snorts in response, before picking him up and hauling him to his feet. "Okay, buddy. We'll see if you're still saying that when the healing juju has worn off."

He stands up, groaning at the shifting of weight in his body and leans back against the tree. "I am not looking to that. You have... car?"

[nonconfrontational]

She frowns softly, before shaking her head. "Sorry. I do a lot of walking. But there's a refugee camp not too far from here that I can walk you to?"

"No, I am not refugee. I am Egyptian."

[nonconfrontational]

"I noticed. But that would at least give you a place to start and means to get elsewhere. And it's safe, for the most part. Most of these people are Shadowkind refugees, they don't have anywhere else to go."

He thinks for a moment, and goes to push up. "Is the camp along the water?"

[nonconfrontational]

She shakes her head. "No. It's just on the outskirts of the city, I think."

[byyourleave]

"There is... there are pirates about to take over a shadowkind camp... to sell as slaves..."

[nonconfrontational]

Her eyes widen a bit, before she turns to face him some more. "Where? How far from here?"

"North. They were going North."

[nonconfrontational]

"I think I know where they're heading." There aren't a lot of camps North of them, but she could think of one on the water from her travels there. She reaches into her pockets and pulls out her phone. "C'mon. I have to find reception."

He will stand up to go with her, but he's still going to be slow. Blood loss and all. "If you can warn them, it will help them. But there are many of them and they are armed."

[nonconfrontational]

"Yeah, well, my friends are pretty well armed too." All they need are a few combined members of the Dragon's Hide and Fire and she's pretty sure they can do all the protecting they need. She just has to get a hold of the closest office and hope they have the spare staff to help.

He took two more steps and stopped, putting his hand against the trunk of a tree. "You need to go on and stop them. I will just slow you down, I'm afraid."
