I think I can do a little better than that. I do have a sleeper sofa.

[Which is probably better than just sleeping on her actual sofa. She's pretty sure he's big enough to fall off without it actually being pulled out.]

[Steve smiles, self-deprecating all the way.] Sleeper sofa? I didn't realize I'd be living fancy. Should've visited you sooner.

[She flashes him a grin in return, before nodding.]

It's not much, but it's a pretty decent mattress for a starving law student.

I used to sleep on the ground so really anything is a step up. [He confides playfully.] But, I'm glad you've got something decent for yourself. Hard to save the world with a backache.

[And with that they arrive at their car! And off they go to Laurel's apartment where she will let him in and gesture to the rest of the space.]

[Steve sets down his bag near the couch. (You know he wouldn't let her carry it twice!) He gives the place a quick once over and whistles.] This is something, Laurel.

I'm glad you think so.

[She doesn't think it's much, having been friends with Queens and Merlyns her whole life and seen the excess to which they live. At the same time, she's never looked down on it either, so it's nice to see someone appreciate it for what it is.

She takes a breath before making her way over and sitting down next to him.]

So. First things first - any food allergies or preferences that I should be aware of?

[Because thing you may not have been aware of, Steve: Laurel Lance is a bit of a foodie.]

[He shakes his head after a moment's pause. Sometimes Steve really does forget.] Not anymore. Perks of being a super soldier. You can feed me just about anything and it will go down fine.

[The other one is harder to answer. He ate whatever he could get. Preference rarely had anything to do with it.] I like to try new things. That's pretty much anything at this point. Even the basics taste different.

[That makes her grin, because if there's anything she loves, it's showing people new food. Especially when she doesn't have to worry about it making them sick.]

Perfect! Then I will take you to all my favorite places.

[valuedstrength]

[He smiles in return because wow. Her smile is kind of like sunshine. You can't not smile back in appreciation.] You're going to spoil me rotten, Laurel.

Well, you are my guest.

[She sits down next to him, giving his arm a squeeze.]

That means I am well within my rights to spoil you.

[valuedstrength]

[He lets out a little laugh. Steve doesn't have the heart to shut her down even as his pride demands otherwise. That leaves him to quickly find a way to appease them both.] Okay, but only if I get to return the favor someday. When I'm settled.

[Whenever that is.]

[Laurel considers for a moment, before nodding her agreement.]

That is a fair proposal, and I accept your terms.

[Not that she wouldn't anyway, but she's used to the men in her life wanting to spoil her. Between Tommy and Oliver she's learned to find her way to the middle ground.]

[He smiles in amusement. That sounds so lawyer-like that he finds himself proud of her.] Good because I'm actually pretty bad at arguments that don't end in punching.

[She laughs.]

Well, hopefully, we won't have any arguments at all. I prefer not to fight with friends.

[He laughs, shaking his head soonafter.] Me neither. I save all my fighting for bad guys and people who are rude to other people.

Good. Then we should manage just fine.

[She offers him a smile before getting to her feet again.]

So. Are you tired from your trip or should I order some pizza?

[valuedstrength]

[He smiles because while Laurel can't know any better, the idea of him ever being too tired for pizza is funny] The answer is always order some pizza. I'm always hungry.

[prosecutorial]

[She laughs, before nodding.]

Got it. Always have pizza on hand. I'll call Mario's.

[She gets up to grab her phone.]

Do you have a topping preference?

[valuedstrength]

[He practically beams in response. She has a really nice laugh. Steve is a little embarrassed at how much he appreciates it.] Whatever meat you like. I promise I'm a fan of it.

Pepperoni it is. I'll be right back.

[and with that she will head off to place an order for their dinner. And with that, they'll have a lovely evening with two friends catching up.

Later, it will possibly be crashed by Thea wanting to meet Captain America, but that's something for another thread. /scene]
