[Laurel considers for a moment, before giving a small shrug.]

Sure.

[While it's true that Helena could be the bad kind of mask, Laurel has more than proven she can take care of herself, and her guard isn't down. Not by a long shot.]

Perfect. [She strides alongside Laurel like she doesn't have a care in the world. Maybe she doesn't. It turns out all her worrying amounted to nothing.] I'm Huntress and no I'm not changing the name despite the reputation certain other people have given it in the past. Anything else you'd like to ask during our brief time together?

[Her eyebrows go up at the mention of the name "Huntress" because ... welp. But at the same time, she isn't Helena Bertenelli. That much she can tell.]

Why the interest in Star City? Because if you're trying to avoid the previous Huntress' reputation that ... wouldn't be a great place to start.

[Huntress grows somber at the question, shrugging dismissively.] Same old story. A bad man comes to a troubled town and targets the less fortunate quietly as he can because he's heard someone's hunting down people in his line of work quite aggressively....

[She glances at Laurel seriously.] I have to visit your city to take care of this guy. Am I going to have to fight off the entire police department to do it? I've heard that's a thing in Star City.

The SCPD and the Green Arrow have a very ... unique kind of relationship. But it's better than it used to be. Honestly, you'd probably have to worry more about the Arrow than the cops. He and his team could help you find him.

[Huntress shakes her head, clearly amused by the offer.] I only work with my partner if that. Besides, I'm not the kind of girl who hunts down team ups with strangers.

[She admits after a beat.] I do admit I like his gimmick.

[She snorts.]

I'm sure he'll be pleased to hear it. He doesn't always play well with others. Still, he had ties to our Huntress, so you might at least want to give him a friendly heads up.

I see your point. So how do you get in touch with him? I don't remember him getting a light in the sky.

[She shifts a hand into her pocket and holds up her phone.]

I have him on speed dial.

[Helena blinks twice.] You're kidding me. [She actually pretty sure Laurel isn't which makes her sigh.] Alright, feel free to pass along a completely sane Huntress wants to take down a human trafficker without murdering whoever comes within a two block radius in the process.

[She nods in agreement, before pulling up her messaging app and shooting Oliver a text message. A few minutes later, her phone beeps and she reads it with a smile.]

He'll stay out of you way.

[Oliver's actual message: Absolutely not, Laurel.]

But if you need a hand, I'm sure the Black Canary would be happy to assist. This guy sounds like the kind of scum that's right up her alley.

[Huntress hangs out while she waits for the text. While she doubts it's that easy, she accepts the answer all the same. The mention of Black Canary marks the first time she seems genuinely interested before shaking her head. It's almost like she's afraid to get her hopes up.] I've heard good things about her... but I'm sure she's off helping with the green archer with whoever is causing a commotion this week. I'll manage solo.

[Her heart definitely isn't in the answer. She'd love to be wrong on this.]

[Oh, she is so wrong about this. She's dying for someone to treat her as an equal and not as a sidekick.]

I think the Arrow can manage on his own for one night.

[Which might be saying a little too much about who she is, but well. Human traffickers are human traffickers.]

[Helena raises a brow. That is pretty leading, but she's not going to say anything. This is a chance to work with Black Canary. She's not going to screw it up with a pointless game of 'You're probably her, aren't you?? No, I'm not.' Rinse and repeat until one of them gives up.

She smirks and states sweetly,] Well if you have Black Canary on speed dial, let her know it'd be an honor to work with her on this case.

[She produces a small card from her utility belt.] This is my number this week. All I need is a place to meet up and trade notes.

[Laurel nods in agreement as she takes the card.]

Once I get back to Star City, I'm sure she'll be in touch.

[She just has to figure out a location that's not the lair and make sure that this will actually stay out of Oliver's way.]

Until then, Ms. Lance. [She smirks and does what every dramatic Bat does in this situation: shoot up a line and let it carry her away. Huntress disappears into the darkness as typical of a resident of Gotham in a mask.
