"It's fine."

It's not, but she knows this town isn't easy for anyone.

"I'm going to try to see -- I have my magic now. I want to see if I can find a way to help your uncle."

Cami is one of the few people who have helped her with no ulterior motives. That matters to Davina, it's not something she takes lightly. If she can help Cami, she wants to.

"Are you sure you're ready for that?"

She knows that the ancestors warned her about misusing her magic, and using it to help someone probably shouldn't qualify but it also means going against the witches of the Quarter. Where's the line for misuse?

"It's a pretty serious hex. I want to help Kieran, but I don't want you to get hurt as a result."

[casketgirl]

"You're the only person other than Josh who seems to actually care what happens to me -- and with no agenda of your own. It's the least I can do."

Plus, if she can pull something like this off it'll prove to the other witches they can't bully her around.

[bravebartender]

Cami weighs this consideration for a moment, trying to figure out exactly what to do. There's a part of her that knows that this is a risk, and she probably shouldn't let Davina take it, but at the same time, she doesn't want her uncle to keep suffering for her inaction.

"Okay. I'll see if I can take you over there tomorrow." There's a pause. "But if it's too much, I'll find another way. I don't want you to hurt yourself."

"Right. If it's too much -- we'll figure something else out."

And maybe the other witches will get mad at her -- but she's been able to tap into her magic again and she refuses to just be docile.

[bravebartender]

She nods slowly in agreement, and it's hard to fight the relief that pools in her chest. "Thank you, Davina." After being stonewalled for so long, seeing someone who is actually willing to try means so much more to her than anything else. "I thought with the witch who placed the curse dead, that might be enough to lift it."

[casketgirl]

"Nothing ever seems to be that simple." Especially not when it comes to magic. Things are always more complicated than they originally think -- but that doesn't mean impossible.

[bravebartender]

"It used to be." At least for her. It was simpler when she didn't know that any of this existed, but what she does know is she can't lose Kieran the same way she lost Sean. There has to be a way around this and after being stonewalled by those more knowledgeable than she is as though they have bigger things to worry about is incredibly frustrating.

"I'm sorry. I'm not the most optimistic phone company tonight."

"It's okay."

It is, really. Davina gets it. It's hard to be optimistic here. Not only is she still reeling from her own death but Tim's too.

Cami knows that. And she wishes she could be there for her, more than she is right now. She should be, but there's simply too much on her plate and not enough time to handle it all in.

"I miss you, by the way."

Davina doesn't blame her -- not really. She has her own issues with her uncle to handle.

"I miss you too."

[bravebartender]

"Once this is all over and our lives stop sucking so much, we could totally ... go to a movie. Do something normal." Even if their lives aren't normal and will probably never be normal ever again, that doesn't mean they can't do normal things every once in a while.

[casketgirl]

"I'd like that. I can't remember the last time I saw a movie -- or did anything normal."

Not since before the Harvest, anyway.

[bravebartender]

"Then it's a date," Cami says with a determined nod. "Fix my uncle, avoid a supernatural war, reward ourselves with grossly unhealthy popcorn and some attractive twenty-something actor's abs for a job well done."

Only it won't go the way she hopes, but hey. At least they can hopefully still manage the movie in the end.

Davina grins a little to herself at that. It sounds so weirdly normal, and there's something really comforting about that.

"I'll be looking forward to it."

[bravebartender]

"Good." There's something in her that relaxes as well. The fact that there is someone willing to help, someone willing to work with her towards fixing her uncle, means so much more than she could ever say. "But right now it's late, and we should probably be sleeping."

[casketgirl]

"Probably. Sleep well, Cami."

[bravebartender]

"You too." And with that, she hangs up and goes to try and at least get some sleep.
