[Werewolves are kind of rare these days.

They still exist, or at least that's what she's told. They just aren't really seen in Mystic Falls anymore. There also aren't "new people" that are there for "no reason" so when a guy and someone she can only assume is his son wander into Mystic Falls, she is on the case to try and figure out who they are.

She waits until the kid moves off to the pool tables, watching him for a moment before wandering over and picking up one of the pool cues.]

[ Chris asks him point blank what he wants to do. Despite his loyalty to Scott, Isaac doesn't feel he has a reason to stay. He knows Allison wasn't his be all and end all but he also knows that doesn't matter. Chris has arrangements to make, contacts to visit and family to notify throughout the country. When he asks if Isaac would like to come, there's no question. He needs to leave. He needs to move on. He needs to try and make some kind of life outside of being kidnapped and abused and hurt. Maybe a part of him did love Allison. He can't tell. He's never felt that before. But, he knows he like to forget about it for a while. Traveling with her father should bring it up more often but Christ Argent isn't one to discuss his feelings. After the first few days they came to a silent mutual conclusion.

Late at night, they discuss her. Every now and then. He gets them rooms with twin beds even though Isaac says he doesn't need a bed. He knows rooms with one bed are cheaper. Chris doesn't care.

He doesn't say goodbye to anyone.

After driving up to Oregon, Chris leaves the car with family and he and Isaac board a plane. He's never been outside of California. To Isaac, Virginia is flat. And boring. When Chris tells him to watch his back and not to go out at night without him, Isaac just thinks he's being overdramatic. (This is Chris Argent, so how could he not know there'd be reason to keep a lower profile.)

Chris is off, meeting a contact of his. Chris is always pretty cagey. But, Isaac never asks. He never needs to know. He's capable of taking care of himself and he has a plate of fries.

He's used to playing games alone. When your brother dies when you're young and your father ceases to care about your well being, you end up doing things by yourself. It's a status quo he needs no adjusting to. So, when he racks the balls, he's not expecting for anyone to talk to him. It's been a week and not one person has.

She's... well, there's only one word that works and that's hot. Isaac uses the word often but it fits. He doesn't hesitate to respond. ]

You good? [ Isaac's not, but that cocky side of him still exists. It helps with pushing down the pain and loss. ]

I don't suck.

[She shrugs a bit as she moves back to the head of the table. Playing pool is a time-honored past time in Mystic Falls. It's one of the things they do the most to pass the time. She's not going to let Isaac get away from it that easily.]

Besides, it's better than playing yourself.

Rack em.

[ He smirks, watching her every move, (which includes her bending over and retrieving the balls), hard not to watch that. ]

Thanks for asking. I don't know anyone here.

[She shrugs as she pulls the balls together, rolling the triangle back and forth a bit to get the balls to settle.]

Well, lucky for you, we're a friendly town.

Yeah? The town I grew up in, it wasn't what you'd call friendly. Everybody kept to themselves. [ Even at school, unless you were cool. Then again, maybe the town kept their head in the sand and that was their coping mechanism.

It's not like they were ever friendly to him. ]

Oh, that's not Mystic Falls. Everyone knows everybody. Which is why new people are always very interesting.

Interesting how? [ Because, he's interested in her. She seems plenty interesting. ]

Depends on why you're here.

[Also, whether or not you're evil.]

What would you say if I told you my sort of ex's father took me in after she died. And we're kind of on this road trip cause I don't have any family of my own. And he has, like, family everywhere.

[ A beat, holding her gaze.

And then he smiles. ]

[She considers for a moment, before shrugging.]

I'd say that your ex's dad sounds better than my ex's dad.

[Not that she has any family, but she has a feeling that Richard Lockwood would sooner stake her than take her in if Tyler died.]

He didn't even like me when we first started hanging out. And he's a good dad. [ He doesn't even know why Chris took him under his wing. ] How bad was your ex's dad?

[ Grabbing the cue ball from underneath to set it down as he lines up his shot. ]

[She makes a face. Getting into that is too much of Tyler's business and she's not going to just randomly share that with strangers.]

Doesn't really matter. He's dead now.

Oh. Sorry. Mine, too. [ Welcome to the Dead Dad's Club, Tyler. ] At least he's not your dad, right?

[ Ahahahaha. Let's not talk about Caroline's dad, mkay? He's not much better. ]

Yeah. At least there's that.

So, what's it like to grow up here? [ It seems nice enough. ]

[She shrugs.]

Small town, so everyone knows everyone. That can be both a good and bad thing.

[bereavements]

Everyone like, everyone's popular or everyone like, gossip goes a long way here?

[She pauses for a moment, considering.]

A little of both?

How do you keep secrets?

You don't tell anyone. Ever. Or you only tell people you know you can really trust.

That's a small list. [ And it got smaller :( ]

Most of them usually are. And small lists are good. Better than no list at all.

[ He nods. ] I'll break?

[ Not a fun conversation. But, it makes sense. Caroline racked. And so they play pool. The end. ]
