[The thing Sophie both loves and hates about bars is the noise. It dulls out some of the other conversations, making you seem like less of an eavesdropper, but at the same time the noise just rings in your head. If she were a younger vampire, she probably would have been more irritated at the situation, but as it is, she's just sipping her drinking, looking as though she has all the time in the world.

And eventually, she notices she's being watched and speaks, knowing that Katherine is also old enough to filter out the other sounds.]

Are you going to stare all night or are you going to come over and have a drink?

[ Katherine wants something.

And when Katherine wants something, she finds a way to get it. Unfortunately, that's easier said than done. She hears about Sophie Deveraux and her band of Robin Hood's through the grapevine. Both legitimate business and the vampire network is in a tizzy. Right now it's a rumor. Half believe she's gone straight and half believe that would never happen.

So, here's Katherine. She would like to find out.

Her feelings for Sophie, much like everyone else, are mixed. Sophie is older and she was turned by Elijah. She had Elijah first and isn't that always going to be a bone of contention. Katherine has always seen she and Elijah as more as a wrong time, wrong place - but something about Sophie eats away at her. And Katherine knows that if it came down to it, Elijah may not choose her. That doesn't sit well with her at all. If Sophie weren't older, Katherine would've gotten rid of her. No, that's not true. Elijah would go into a rage and she already has one Original on her tail.

She's leaning by the dart board. Mason's takes a drink from his glass of beer and Katherine grins, crinkling her nose at him.

Yes, it was her idea for the two of them to take a weekend trip to this town. And yes, she's here for a reason. ] Impressive. [ And then she hears her.

The reason why she decided to come. It helps that Mason has to leave. Conveniently. He's tired. He did the driving. She tells him she'll meet him back at the room. A kiss later, as she checks out his ass as he walks out, she saunters over to Sophie's table. ] Now, why would you think I had anything to say to you? [ It's her first instinct. Hostility, despite needing something from her. She'd have to reign it in. ] How've you been, Sophie?

[Hostility is what Sophie expects from Katherine. Honestly, the jealousy isn't necessary. She and Elijah were close, yes, but there was something about Katerina that had done him in. Something that has Sophie making a point to stay as far away from her as she possibly can.

So when she starts seeking her out, Sophie makes herself easy to be found. The sooner she finds out what she wants, the sooner she can be done with her.]

You aren't the only one with your ear to the ground, darling. I know you've been looking for me.

Have I? And why have I been looking for you? [ It's safe to say, Katherine finds what she's looking for. So, if she were looking for Sophie, she'd have found her. And here she is. Katherine gets what she wants. For now. ] I'm sure your ear picks up all sorts of rumbling. What could possibly be going around about me.

[That's what she wants to know. She hasn't a clue what Katherine is after, but she does know she's not exactly inclined to give it to her.]

There's always rumbling. You're Katherine Pierce.

And you're Sophie Deveraux. [ One of Elijah's treasured sires. ] Fine. Maybe I put my ear to the ground. [ She still has it. ] I hear you've assembled a team. You procure ... all matter of things.

A paying client? [ Which would be a dig at what she's heard Sophie does vs what she figures Sophie might do. Tell her Sophie hasn't gone straight. Tell her that Sophie isn't actually stealing from the rich. Conning people for the greater good. Don't make her yak. ]

[She rolls her eyes.]

I find that very unlikely.

I've come to realize that being involved with your business isn't necessarily the smartest way to stay alive. You tend to like to burn loose ends.

[ Sure, she's lying. She may just as kill them all the minute the moonstone is in her hands. But, why admit to that. ]
