[Charlie and Jane aren't really "housewarming" people. Sure, they got a new house, but they probably wouldn't even be having this little "get-together" of some of Jane's busy body friends down at the station hadn't insisted on it being the proper thing to do when buying a home.

Realistically, Charlie knows, because Charlie is from a small town in Iowa, not unlike this Midwestern town that they happened to find themselves in after Chicago collapsed, that these busy bodies want to scope him out and figure out what he and Jane's "situation" is, but frankly their situation is none of these people's business, which makes this party even more awkward than it already is, which is why Charlie is escaping to the basement under the guise of going to get Jane another beer.

He grabs two bottles and is about to turn and make his way upstairs when there's a bright light, a flash, and then a very loud ... CRASH!

He turns on instinct, already bracing himself for a fight when he sees who it is, and he can't help the pleased laughter that bubbles up when he sees who's sitting on top of his washing machine.]

Darlin', you sure are a sight for sore eyes.

[ lena's voice has reached decibels she isn't sure she was capable of, but as soon as she recognizes him, she's jumping off the washing machine and bolting toward him with the strength of a typhoon. there isn't much that she gets to say after that.

sorry, charlie, lena will be barreling toward you.

and likely knocking you to the ground while she is at it. ]

[Yep, they're going down hard. Charlie can't help but laugh, even as his back hits the ground and it knocks the wind out of him. It doesn't stop his arms from coming around her tightly, pulling her close and sinking into the hold, just for a moment.]
