[She smirks a bit at that, moving to line up her own shot.]

Maybe you should.

[Was that fliritng? Elena Gilbert.]

[ Marti smiles, her eyes drifting to Elena's lips. ]

[ Melissa is good with the flirting. ]

What if I did?

[She gives a bit of a shrug as she moves closer. She doesn't flirt with other girls often, but there's something about Melissa that intrigues her. She wants to know more.]

If I told you, that would ruin the surprise.

[She doesn't notice at first, just focusing on the beat and losing herself a bit in the music.]

[ She smiles big and bright. ]

Think I can fit you in my suitcase?

[ Marti doesn't notice at first either, to be honest, but once she does, it's awkward time. ]

Uh...maybe you're right. Maybe you should get me home.

[She smirks.]

Well, I am very flexible.

[She glances up, confused, before nodding and reaching for her hand.]

Okay. Let's go.

[ Flexible. Melissa bites her lip. ]

I might need to see that.

Well, if you win, maybe I'll show you.

[Okay that was way more brazen. Elena, what have you been drinking.]

That ... was probably the most awkward Thanksgiving Dinner she had ever been to.

She probably should have bowed out of it, but a) Caroline would have killed her and b) she's been wanting to meet Allison for a while. She makes Stefan happy, and actually meeting her face to face was a good choice. Spending most of the dinner dodging passive aggressive comments from Damon, however, was not. After spending most of the night huddling in a corner with Bonnie and Caroline, she breaks free, making her way out into the streets of Beacon Hills to see what the night life has to offer.

It's quiet, compared to Mystic Falls - way less bars to calm the urges of functioning alcoholic vampires - but there is one bar that she manages to make her way into, sliding up onto one of the stools and scanning the faces curiously, trying to get a feel of the kind of clientele or of they're vampire friendly, but for now, things seem to be okay.

She pauses, squinting at the bottles before flashing the bartender her best smile.

"Bourbon. Neat." Some Damon-gained habits die hard. "Thanks."

[ Mel is now determined to win at all costs. ]

Game on.

[And they will go head to head until eventually ... look at that. Elena loses.]

[ Melissa has the sneaking suspicion that Elena let her win...but then, that only makes her more smug. ]

So...where are we going for this demonstration?

We could head back to my place. I've got the house all to myself this weekend.

Elena Gilbert would never admit that she was relieved when her aunt told them that they were moving across the country in the wake of her parents death, but in a lot of ways she is. Mystic Falls is such a small town and everyone knew the Gilberts. She can't say she was excited for the pitying looks from the rest of the people there. Not to say that moving completely across the country is easy, exactly - she misses Bonnie and Caroline terribly - but it's almost refreshing for people to stop treating her like she's fragile.

She still is unsure about how to make friends when things are still weighing on her like they are, but it feels like forever since she's been just another girl.

The Beacon Hills Preserve stretches out for miles with nothing but silence and solitude, and it's where she's opted to spend most of her time after school. Jeremy is still self-destructing, though less so now that he doesn't know where all the connections are. And the kids at school are nice - some more so than others - but she doesn't mind taking some time for herself. She doesn't have to be the old Elena anymore, and in many ways it's incredibly liberating.

She's in the preserve, writing all of this out in her diary when she hears a snap of twigs and the pounding of footsteps from somewhere behind her and her head snaps around in concern. "Hello?" she frowns as she stares out into the density of the trees. "Is anyone there?"
