(plus roy told her some stuff when he stopped by after the ninth circle crap.)
since she has always been william's favorite aunt and since felicity is indisposed caring for a newborn, oliver desperately calls his sister when his adult son and daughter arrive from the future and his beautiful daughter cannot handle it for some reason she will not tell him. thea doesn't need to read between the lines that oliver doesn't call felicity because he is afraid of what the answer really is, she would never say no to seeing william (and now mia) anyway.
stepping into the bunker all over again, thea breathes out a slow breath, glancing idly at the red suit still neatly hung up and illuminated despite her retirement. every time it is like she has never left. she drops her bag and weapons on the floor without a care that someone might trip over the bow. ]
Olly olly oxen free, I was told my namesake would be here, [ thea sing-songs by way of a hello to whomever is around. ]

Zoe's dead - but in 2019 she's not.
Her father is dead - but in 2019 he's not.
Her mother is off somewhere with baby her, which is a head trip in and of itself and her father is alive and she can't pin down if she should be happy about that or not. What kind of fucked up daughter is she.
When she hears another voice in the bunker, she rounds a corner and stares her down, eyeing the other woman as she takes stock of her, before smiling softly.]
Hey, Aunt Thea.
[She didn't get to see Thea often - off running the League of Assassins 2.0 - but sometimes she would come by when Nyssa came out to train her.]
I guess he sent out the bat signal?
no subject
Wow, that is weird. [ a beat. ] Not you, it's just I've only ever heard Aunt Thea out of William and JJ's mouths, you know. Hits a little different when it's a girl.
[ feels natural though, like she's heard it before. an echo. more ghosts. she needs to get a god damn grip on herself. ]
Ollie called because parental issues are my niche. [ her arms spread like what can you do. ] You look just like our mom, it's wild.
no subject
What was she like? Your mom.
[Felicity always said that Mia is short for Moira, but she didn't know enough about her to tell her anything.]

thea strides over to the command center, sinking into a chair and rooting around underneath where she knows rene hides mini cans of sprite so she can crack one open, giving herself a minute to think about how to explain the complexity of moira dearden queen. "oh she was a mass murderer!" doesn't seem like it'll fly without context. ]
She was complicated. She loved us, so much. She knew Ollie was the Hood -- that's what he called himself -- way before he told her. I love your dad dearly, but my brother is a moron.
[ she takes a sip of the soda. ] When dad and Ollie disappeared she sort of... It broke her, she made some bad choices. Once Ollie came back it was too late.
[ the undertaking was underway already. ]
no subject
[Oh is that still some stray bitterness about her mother lying to her her entire life? Good to know that's not totally gone. And now her mom is just gone so there's that.
(Only she's not gone. She's not even that far away, with baby her, just going about her life and getting ready to lie to her again. It's fine. That doesn't bother her at all.]
Dad disappears and people make bad choices.
no subject
[ okay that's a little flippant, but thea can't help it. she tends to default to brushing it all aside, especially when it comes to her mother. it's fine, she doesn't have abandonment issues, it's fine, she doesn't have parent issues because they're all murderers and TWO OF THEM DIED FOR HER.
it's fine. ]
So is that it? Oliver vanished again?
no subject
[She swallows hard, before running a hand through her hair. She doesn't want to have to say this, but knowing that her dad already knows, maybe Thea already knows too.]
A couple months from now, actually. If my math is right.
no subject
[ thea doesn't sugarcoat it. it makes sense though. ollie might drop off the universe when it comes to her, but mia and william are something oliver isn't going to leave lightly. it turns out he doesn't leave them lightly at all, he dies.
it's cute mia thinks thea is told anything. ]
That would do it.
no subject
Why am I not surprised he hasn't told you anything?
no subject
[ nora + internet + speedster reading is a bad combination ]
no subject
When it comes to punching people? Mia one hundred percent takes after her father and her aunt. Everything else is Felicity though. Also, when you're stuck in witness protection and can't really go anywhere or have a life, taking advantage of the anonymity of the internet. Especially when it comes to researching your father and his double life as Green Arrow.
So, unfortunately for Mia, the answer to that question is:]
Yes.
[don't make a thing about it.]
no subject
okay but like.
graphic fanart.
the kind of stuff that doesn't make it possible for you and i to be born
no subject
You do get the internet is full of people who will believe whatever they want, right? And that none of it is actually real?
no subject
for the sake of argument, we don't actually know that it's not real, we're just assuming it's not because i don't know about you but my mom wouldn't include a secret love affair with his best friend in my bedtime stories about my dad
also it's weird to me that you knew about it and you never told me

First of all, the only parents of ours that have made out are your dad and my mom.
[Felicity told her to embarrass her when she got to the age where wanting to make out with people was a thing and honestly she wishes she could wipe that information from her brain with brain bleach.]
Secondly, why would I tell you about the delusions of crazy people on the internet?!
no subject
WHEN????
SERIOUSLY?????
how do you know this?
[ nora may or may not believe that her parents have never dated anyone else ever in their whole lives ]
no subject
My mom told me. They dated for like five seconds before either of our parents got together. It was not a thing, so don't make it one.
no subject
i've never been so upset that i can't get drunk as i am right now
no subject
My dad had an actual child with another person twelve years before I was born, never mind all the stuff that happened with the Lance Sisters, and you are having a existential crisis because your dad might have kissed someone else?
[Mia's willing to bet he did a lot of things with other people before he and his mom got together. Never mind Iris, who, you know, was actually engaged to someone else for a little bit.]
If I google your mom right now, what do you think I might find?
no subject
her wide, all encompassing and guilt trip producing media empire?
and like no offense but my dad was a way better person than your dad

Because she's not wrong. Nora's dad inspired hope and saved people and Mia's father was a murderer before the world actually saw him as someone that did good. Even she doubts her father's place as a vigilante and whether or not it was actually a good thing for Star City, given what the place turned into once he was gone.
But he's her father, damnit. And she hung on to the fact that the reason why he wasn't with her was because he was a hero, despite all the flaws. He gave his life to save the world and that made up for some of the mistakes, didn't it?
His bow is a heavy legacy to carry, one she isn't one hundred percent sure she wants, but one she's been given all the same.]
No one's perfect, Nora. No offense, but I really doubt your dad is either.
[And whether or not Nora takes that and listens is up to her, but that's where Mia's gonna leave it.]
no subject
but sometimes she really hates him for leaving her behind more than she hates her mom for lying to her about him. ]
yeah obviously if he was, he would've been around when i was a kid.
i'm sorry.
hey do you want pizza?
no subject
That you can't just let people die, just because you want to keep your family.
She's in the middle of shooting a volley of arrows at targets on a wall when she sees Nora's messages and she hesitates. Because she knows the offer of pizza isn't just pizza, it's pizza + Nora, but William and Zoe are out getting drinks, Connor has things to do, everyone has a life but her, and if she's being honest with herself, hanging out in the bunker all by her lonesome is kind of sad.
Company wouldn't be such a bad thing.]
Okay.
[Is this friendship? Reluctantly accepting a pizza date because you don't want to be alone and the other person isn't terrible company?
Mia honestly doesn't know.]
no subject
what kind?
oh and what's your fave place
no subject
Veggie? And I don't really have one. Wherever you want is fine?
no subject
alright.
no worries i know a great place in keystone and then i'll be over
[ so like five minutes instead of five seconds ]
no subject
What's wrong with veggie?
no subject
Just kinda boring that's all. Unless you're a vegetarian and that's cool if you are. More meat for me.
no subject
[She moves to head towards the fridge, grabbing them a couple drinks before she makes her way back over and pulls over one of the chairs from the computer consoles.]
I just don't really like it on my pizza. And it's not kosher.
[Not that her mom was ever the most observant, but when it was just the two of them, Mia picked up on a lot of it.]
no subject
[She'll just put her foot in her mouth then because she didn't know that Mia even kept the kosher. Good thing only two of the pizzas has pepperoni on then. Those can be just Nora pizzas. Special Nora the speedster non kosher pizzas. She will just move those two out of the way right now, nothing to see here.]
Of course. Duh. I mean, I didn't know you were Jewish but that's cool. Great, even.
[Who lets her talk to people, honestly.]
Do you have anything against cheesy bread? Cause I got two.
no subject
[So she will definitely snag one of those cheesy bread before Nora can eat it all. But she also feels bad that she keeps knocking Nora off balance because while it is intentional, it's not consciously so.
It's just how she's used to dealing with the world.]
My mom is -- was, Jewish. And she wasn't super observant or anything. Like I never had a Bat Mitzvah - [Probably because the world couldn't know she existed] - but I didn't really have a lot to do beyond train when I was a kid, so I read up a lot. Keeping kosher made sense to me, food wise.
no subject
Pretty sure that meant that Iris was still annoyed but Nora was more focused on how pretty her mom looked in her dress and how happy her dad was in the pictures to really pay much attention to an old grudge.]
Cool, cool, cool, cool, cool... cool... and that doesn't sound like a word anymore. [An awkward chatterbox should be her middle name really, as she claps her hands together just for something to do that's not repeating the same word over and over.]
Wait--did you say training? Like... vigilante training?
[William never said anything about doing that as a kid and if it's true then Nora might be low key jealous.]
no subject
[From the Heir to the Demon herself, which probably should have raised some red flags, but to Mia she was just Aunt Nyssa, her mother's ex-sister wife.
Why is her father's love life so stupidly complicated?]
I mean, I knew my dad was a vigilante, but I didn't want that life. I believed a lot of the propaganda out there that vigilantes were what ruined Star City.
no subject
What changed your mind then?
[Since you know, they're clearly in the Arrow cave and someone has been doing the superhero/vigilante thing for a while.]
no subject
Additionally, she doesn't consider herself lucky for having a hero for a father. She spent her entire life knowing that her father thought saving the world was more important than being with her. She isn't sure what's so lucky about that.
She pauses long enough to grab another slice of pizza picking at one of the mushrooms and dropping it into her mouth. Because she is the classiest.]
Actually ... doing it. Saving Star City and seeing that sometimes the legal thing isn't necessarily the right thing. I still ... don't agree with everything he did. But being on this team and working with the Canaries means me and William get to be together too. I think no matter what, Dad would want us to stick together.
no subject
Nearly half of her pizza is gone listening to Mia's explanation, like she's trying to squash all feelings of jealousy by literally eating them away instead. There's no team back in Central City waiting for her. Her only real friend is dead and none of the Flash's old allies are still around. Except for her mom but that's not going to happen. Obviously she can pop over to the Arrow cave any time but it's not the same.]
Yeah. Totally. You guys are lucky. To have each other, I mean.
no subject
It's a wonder what a parent will tell you once they're old enough to google their dead parent.]
Yeah. I didn't at first, but ... I think he's growing on me. Kind of helps that he reminds me a lot of my mom. Which is weird because she wasn't actually his mom.
