[ with a puff of smoke, riley looks up from her phone where she is texting nomi like a deer in headlights before she realizes that the kid that walked out is like, twelve. harmless. her skimpy club garb of shorts and ripped tights is mostly hidden by the oversize jacket she draped on before she ducked outside for her break, but when she turns to look at him, one of the dim lights illuminates her bright hair and the telltale streak of blue that gives the dj her stage name. ]

It's all right, [ she murmurs, voice soft with the cadence of her native accent. she reaches up to tuck her hair behind her ear with the hand holding her cigarette before she drops it and snuffs it out with her boot.

it's rude to smoke in front of children. it's not cool, youth! don't smoke! ]

Alley is a good place for a break, you have good taste.

[He smirks a bit at that before nodding.]

[There's a beat and another second after that before - ]

Hey, wait. You were the DJ, weren't you?

[ oh that makes her smile, small and fleeting, but obviously proud to be recognized. it's the little things. ]

Yeah, I am. Did you enjoy it? [ there's something patient about the question, like she won't mind if he didn't. she knows music is in the eye of the beholder. or ear, as the case may be. ]

[It helps that Barry is never really the kind of person to tell someone if he hated something. But he's not lying either, even if it's not the kind of thing he's used to.]

We don't really go to clubs much, but it was fun.

[They're more of a karaoke crowd.]
