[Elena is by herself today and she needs it. She knows that everyone means well, but it gets to be too much sometimes, having everyone huddled around her and worried. She told a few of them where she'd be, but she turned off her cell phone. She doesn't want interruptions, any intrusions. She just wants a little while to walk through the woods and clear her head.]

[Mystic Falls will (hopefully) not burn down in the meantime.]

[With autumn starting to be in full swing, Elena has her coat drawn around her tightly to keep the chill in the air out. Whenever she comes to a small pile of leaves that have prematurely fallen to the ground, she gives them a little kick and sends them scattering. She doesn't just stare at her feet, however, that's too easy of a way to walk into a tree and notices the leather jacket on the stump long before she's close to it. So much for being alone.]

[She glances around, looking along the treeline for signs of another person and strains her ears to hear. She almost thinks to call out, but thinks better of it. There's no telling who is out there. Which means she should probably turn around and head back the way she came while the Hide and Seek Champ have their fun. Instead, she does the exact opposite and heads over to the stump to look at the jacket a little closer.]

[Teenage girl. Human - probably, he can catch other scents, but he can't tell from this distance if they're hers. Threat assessment? Low, but he still lingers just out of view for a moment as he pulls on his t-shirt and watches to see what she'll do. When she her looks towards the jacket seem to be made more of curiosity than looking for something specific, he takes himself out of hiding in true Hale fashion.

By appearing right behind her and probably scaring the crap out of her. Some things never really change.]

If you're looking to steal it, it probably went out of style twenty years ago.

[Just FYI. But he's totally teasing, and that's clear on his face when she turns around.]
