Matthew Murdock. [She says simply. Whether she knows Matt was guessing his way through aiding his old college sweetheart is up for debate. The fact that she came here at all is a testament to giving him the benefit of the doubt this once.]

He learned of you through the priest.

[bravebartender]

The priest?

[yeah, she's totally sitting now.]

Kieran?

[complexities]

That was his name. [She lifts her hand as she continues to speak.] Matt informed me this Kieran was helpful to him during a similar trial. I am not one for priests however so he recommended I seek you out instead. Your uncle spoke quite highly of your skills.

[With that her explanation is done. Time for an incentive.] I am willing to pay you for your services as well as silence. I can promise it will be far more than you are given here.

[bravebartender]

[ ... This sounds like she's trying to hire her for a long term thing. Is this a long term thing? If it is, it sound sneakingly like something Kieran would use to try and get her out of the Quarter, and there are times when she doesn't think he's wrong to want that, but at the same time ... ]

So this would be a ... permanent thing? Because if you just need someone to talk to right now, you don't have to pay me.

[complexities]

I do not know. [There are explanations she could give that would probably make anyone think she should have permanent treatment. Elektra doesn't think it is necessary to elaborate so she won't.]

[bravebartender]

[Okay then. She pauses, considering for a moment.]

Why don't we just talk a bit, then, and if I think it should be more long term, we can discuss that later.

[complexities]

[There is a long stretch of silence. She is picking her words carefully, listening to everything around them, and hesitating in all honesty. Elektra is not the kind to share, but she's made it this far. Turning back is not an option.]

I have many enemies, but there is one that is different from the others. [Her defeat at his hands was unexpected and terrible even to someone as broken as she is.]

He has an effect on me. I thought if I could destroy him it would pass, but I was denied the chance to do so. I do not know what to do now.

[bravebartender]

[Well there's the obvious question.]

Why does destroying him matter?

[complexities]

[Elektra looks confused as to why Cami would ask that. Why wouldn't it matter? He humiliated and terrorized her at every opportunity. She is the warrior that even the stars themselves should fear. It's unacceptable.]

It makes me more powerful than him. [Which is the truth though in her heart Elektra knows she surpassed him years ago. It feels important to drive this point home to him before taking his life.]

[bravebartender]

So it's all about power. He has it, you want to take it from him?

[She thinks it's more complicated than that, but it's something to poke at at least.]

[complexities]

You misunderstand. [It comes out tense. Cami hit the right spot.] He is not more powerful than me! That is why....

[She stops herself there. The rest would resemble something like 'why I refuse to still fear him.' She has to destroy the source of her fear.]

[bravebartender]

If he's not more powerful than you, then why is he still a threat? Why so focused on destroying him completely?

[She raises an eyebrow.]

It indicates he must have some power over you.

[complexities]

[Elektra has no proper counterargument because it's true. He is stolen much more than her life.] I wish to be free. This will set me free.

[bravebartender]

In my experience, death isn't always as freeing as they think it is. In some ways, it just adds even more restrictions - both for the person who's dead and the person who killed them.
