Time zones make trying to coparent complicated and apparently her ex-husband has decided that a death in the family is not a legitimate excuse for not holding up her end of the custody agreement.
It sucks, and she hates everything her life has become, but she also isn't one to deny that she likely deserves it for all the shit she's pulled. All the karma she tipped the scales on finally caught up with her, and all she can do at this point is tough it out until the pendulum swings again.
