Davina has been lying in bed pretty much since Marcel brought her to it. She can't help but feel despondent, her heart aching in new, painful sort of ways. One of the reasons she wanted to be normal was to have a future with Tim, the first boy she ever really liked -- and now he's dead. She'll never see him again.

It almost catches her off guard when the phone rings, and even more so when someone brings her the phone, telling it for her. They seem scared -- Marcel has probably told them not to "bother" her.
